Metamorphosis

A metaphor for shedding the mask of the false persona...

On The Other Side Of Metamorphosis.

Until now, we’ve lived in the mirror’s glow,

Believing the reflection of who we are.

The murky, hidden, buried,

Love has been conditional, we’ve had to hide,

Afraid of being nothing, lost inside.

To disappear, to be no more,

This is the ego’s greatest fear,

To sink beneath the surface,

To vanish from the world,

Identity, once held so tight,

Now slips away into the night.

We relied on the world to define our place,

But all along, we were the wings, the grace.

The butterfly within, now breaking free,

Leaving a sea of masks and false possession,

To rise above, to spread and soar,

No longer bound by what came before.

And so we fly, into the unknown,

With wings of light,

The journey of the heart, the soul.

The true self,

Who will she become?

Well...

She’s everyone.
